Mighty Heart
Jolie, 31, portrays Pearl's wife, Mariane, in A Mighty Heart, which
is set to open on June 22 and is based on Mariane's best-selling novel
about her search for her husband after he was kidnapped in Pakistan in
2002.
Pearl was beheaded, and the video of his execution was posted on the
Internet, and much of the film shows his wife frantically trying to find
and save her husband.
The movie was produced by Brad Pitt, Jolie's companion, and during
filming in Pakistan and India last year, the film crew's presence caused
a storm of publicity as they were followed by paparazzi.
While shooting in a school in Mumbai, India, Jolie's bodyguards were
accused of blocking parents from picking up their kids, although the
security officials claimed they were barring celebrity photographers
from storming into the school.
"The paparazzi rushed through the gates and caused chaos. It was not the
film production that caused chaos. We were only guilty of bringing the
paparazzi," Jolie told the entertainment magazine.

Angelina Jolie has revealed that her ‘rainbow family’ nearly didn’t
happen because she feared that she wouldn’t make a good parent.
She admits that it wasn’t until she held adopted Cambodian son Maddox in
2002 that she realised she was up to the challenge of motherhood.
She says, “They put him (Maddox) in my arms and I stared at him and I
started crying and he smiled. I hadn’t held children before in my life.
I was always considered so dark and I thought maybe I shouldn’t be
someone’s mom because I’m not so sure about myself – am I going to be
the best mom? The fact that this little kid seemed so at ease gave me
the courage to feel I could make him happy and so we became a family.”
Angie has two other adopted children with her partner Brad Pitt – Pax,
three, from Vietnam; and Zahara, two, from Ethiopia – as well as
biological daughter, 19-month-old Shiloh. Her parenting-style has
recently been called into question after she labelled Shiloh the
“outcast” of the family.

It is thought that the role of Mariane was originally
meant for Pitt's ex-wife, Jennifer Aniston, as the film was produced by Plan B,
the company they set up while they were still married.
Oscar-winner Jolie, 31, said: "I think many people know this story and tend to
forget that Mariane was five and a half months pregnant, so through it all,
through all her fighting, she was trying to stay calm, working so hard to try
and find her husband.
"When I was going over this story I was thinking about that. I remember being
six months pregnant and thinking I can't imagine at that time not having the
father with me, and being concerned about his life, and trying to eat, trying to
remember to get some sleep, trying to take deep breaths, and physically just
moving around.

(CBS) When you're considered one of the most beautiful women in the world,
and you've got a flattering accessory like Brad Pitt at your side, couture
seems like overkill.
That's what Angelina Jolie must have been thinking when she selected her
dress for the New York premiere of "A Mighty Heart" Wednesday night.
Jolie told "Access Hollywood" that her black crushed velvet dress was from
the vintage store Wasteland on trendy Melrose Avenue in L.A.
Total cost: $26.
She did splurge on the footwear, though, as she rocked a pair of Christian
Loubotin peep-toe pumps with crystal heels. The designer's signature
red-soled shoes of this style can range from $600 to $800.
That amount of dough could buy about 30 dresses for Jolie's next trot down
the red carpet.

Angelina Jolie Reveals 'Mighty' Challenge Of Playing Slain Reporter's Wife
Actress says she felt 'more pressure' portraying Mariane Pearl in 'A
Mighty Heart' than on any project.
By Josh Horowitz
It's difficult enough for any actor to disappear into a role. Now try
doing it when you've got one of the most recognizable faces on the planet,
which is splattered virtually every week on a magazine cover. Such was the
task facing Angelina Jolie as she played Mariane Pearl in "A Mighty
Heart."
Directed by acclaimed British filmmaker Michael Winterbottom (of "24 Hour
Party People" and "Wonderland" fame), the film recounts the tragic story
of Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl, who was murdered after
following a lead in post-9/11 Pakistan five years ago.
